Use your own AI
Serenities has its own AI chat built in. If you would rather stay in Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app you already use, add Serenities to it as a connector, sign in, and ask. Your own subscription to that app does the talking, and what you ask for happens in your Serenities account. You can also add your own model key and use that model inside Serenities.
Ask from Claude or ChatGPT. What it makes appears in your Serenities account.
What it is
The AI chat inside Serenities is the quickest way to start: open Chat and say what you need. It runs on your plan's monthly AI credits.
If you already use Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app that lets you add a custom connector, you can control Serenities from there. Serenities provides a connector for your account. You paste its address into your AI app, sign in, and then that app can build and change sites, run your agents and flows, and read and write your tables when you ask, using your own subscription to that app. It works through a standard called MCP, which simply lets one AI app use another service. You never need to do anything with it except paste the address.
If you have an account with an AI provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, you can add its key to Serenities and choose that model in the chat. You then pay the provider for the AI, not Serenities.
Compare
| With an API key, inside Serenities' chat | With the Serenities connector, from your own AI app |
|---|---|
| Serenities' servers call the AI provider for you, so you need an API key from the provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others) or a supported coding plan (GLM, Kimi, MiniMax). | The AI app (Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app that supports connectors) runs the model itself, on your own subscription with that app. |
| You pay that provider for what you use. | Serenities only receives the requests, such as "update this page" or "add this row". |
| It works with Serenities' built-in chat: you pick your model in the model picker. | You control Serenities from that app, on what you chose on the connect screen. |
A chat subscription to an AI app does not give out a key, so it cannot be used as one. The AI app can still use the connector.

How it works
Pick the way that suits you. You can use all three.
01Way 1: Use the built-in chat
Click Chat at the top of the left menu and type what you want, in plain words.
02Way 2: Open Your AI and copy the address
Click Your AI in the left menu. On the left, under Connect your AI, open Serenities MCP connector ("One URL that works in every MCP client").
Press Copy next to the address. It is the address on that screen, so you never type it.
03Way 2: Add it in your AI app
In your AI app's settings, find where it lets you add a custom connector and paste the address. Exactly where this sits depends on the app.
For Claude there is a click-by-click guide. ChatGPT and other apps that let you add a custom connector work the same way (paste the address, sign in), but we have no guide for their screens.
04Way 2: Sign in
Two ways, and you pick whichever your AI app supports.
05Way 2: Ask, and disconnect any time
In Claude, ChatGPT or your AI app, say what you want, for example "Create a booking site for my studio". What it makes appears in your Serenities account.
To change your mind, open your profile menu > Profile > Authorised apps, and press Disconnect next to the app, or Disconnect all. Disconnecting one takes effect immediately.
06Way 3: Add your own key
Click Your AI. On the left, pick a provider under Providers. There are 25, including OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), DeepSeek, Mistral AI and Amazon Bedrock. Coding plans (GLM, Kimi, MiniMax) are under Coding plans, and Custom endpoint takes any OpenAI-compatible address.
07Way 3: Choose it in the chat
Open the chat's model picker. Under Your AI (API Key) you will see your keys. Open one to pick from its models. Serenities' own models are above them.
Chats on your own model run on your key, and show as "(your key)" in your usage with 0 credits.
Who stays in charge
When you connect an AI app, you choose what it may reach on the consent screen, and you can disconnect it at any time. It works inside your account, and passwords, two-factor sign-in and your own API keys stay with you in the dashboard. Whether the AI app asks you before it acts is that app's own behaviour; Serenities does not control it.
| Where you ask | What decides what it may do |
|---|---|
| The Serenities chat | Your account, and the approval cards Serenities shows for connected apps and agents |
| Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app, connected | What you ticked on the "Connect <App> to Serenities?" screen, within your account's own rights. The app's own settings decide when it asks you first |
| Your own model key | The same chat. Only the model changes |
What it can't do
No. The built-in AI chat works without one and uses your plan's monthly AI credits. Connecting your own AI app or adding your own key is optional.
Open Your AI > Connect your AI, copy the address, add it as a custom connector in your AI app, then sign in (or paste an API key). There is a click-by-click guide for Claude. ChatGPT and other apps that support custom connectors work the same way; the screens are theirs.
It can use the areas you ticked on the connect screen: for example build and change sites, work with tables, run flows, and set up AI agents. It cannot change your plan or billing, or your password and two-factor sign-in.
With the built-in chat, your plan's AI credits. With your own AI app, you pay through your own account with that app. With your own model key, you pay your provider and Serenities uses no credits for those chats. Anything Serenities itself runs, such as an AI agent run, still counts against your plan.
Two different things. To control Serenities from your AI app: yes. Any AI app that supports connectors, such as Claude or ChatGPT, can connect to Serenities under Your AI > Connect your AI, and build in your account from there, on your own subscription to that app. To power Serenities' own built-in AI: no. A ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro chat subscription cannot be used this way, because those plans do not give out a key. For that, use your plan's AI credits, an API key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, or a GLM, Kimi or MiniMax coding plan.
Open your profile menu > Profile > Authorised apps and press Disconnect. It takes effect immediately.
It is stored encrypted, and afterwards only the start of it is shown. Only an owner or admin can add or change keys. You can edit or delete a key at any time.
